The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad has arrested an alleged Students Islamic Movement of India operative, who was wanted in the 2008 serial bomb blasts in the city, from Belgam in Karnataka.
Parvaiz had left home after an argument with his father, who wanted him to join a college while the son was interested in religious studies.
Besides Bhatkal, the others convicted were Asadullah Akthar of Uttar Pradesh, Zia-ur-Rahman alias Waqas of Pakistan, Tahseen Akhthar of Bihar and Aizaz Shaik of Maharashtra. All of them are in judicial custody.
